Degree entry requirements

Master’s and doctoral

Master’s applicants need a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized by China’s Ministry of Education, and doctoral applicants need a master’s degree. Academic and language conditions are department-specific. Master’s study normally lasts two or three years and doctoral study four years; admission uses application-based evaluation.

Tuition and insurance

Application fee and insurance

The non-refundable degree application fee is RMB 800. Comprehensive medical insurance is quoted at RMB 400 per half-year or RMB 800 per year. Graduate tuition is specified in each programme catalogue.

Scholarships and accommodation

CSC High-Level Postgraduate Scholarship

For the 2026/27 academic-year award, master’s applicants must be under 35 and doctoral applicants under 40. The BFSU deadline was 31 January 2026; the CSC window was 5 January–28 February 2026. Both have passed. The CSC Type B agency number is 10030.

Scholarship coverage

CSC High-Level Postgraduate awards cover tuition, insurance and housing support, with monthly stipends of RMB 3,000 for master’s and RMB 3,500 for doctoral students. Approved off-campus housing subsidies are RMB 700 and RMB 1,000 per month respectively. Beijing Government Scholarship Category B covers tuition, housing and insurance; Category C covers tuition and insurance, under separate award procedures.

On-campus accommodation

Dormitory prices are approximately RMB 40–100 per person per day by room type: examples are RMB 40 for a twin room with shared bathroom and RMB 90 for an en-suite single at the East Campus International Student Apartment. Admitted self-funded students reserve through the university system during the designated window; free scholarship accommodation is allocated by BFSU.
