Entry requirements
General graduate eligibility
Master's applicants generally need a bachelor's degree and an age of 40 or below; doctoral applicants generally need a master's degree and an age of 45 or below. Chinese-taught master's study requires HSK 5. English-taught graduate applicants whose official language is not English need IELTS ≥6.0, TOEFL ≥80 or other official English evidence.
High-Level Graduate Scholarship eligibility
The scholarship age ceilings are 35 for master's and 40 for doctoral study. Applicants for Chinese-taught study need at least HSK 4; those holding only HSK 4 take an additional Chinese-language year, while HSK 5 is required for direct Chinese degree study. English evidence is IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80 or an official equivalent.
Programmes, duration and fees
Graduate tuition
Master's study generally lasts two to three years, with tuition of RMB 31,600/year in Chinese or RMB 37,600/year in English. Doctoral study generally lasts three to five years, at RMB 41,600/year in Chinese or RMB 47,600/year in English. The RMB 600 application fee is non-refundable.
English-taught curriculum and duration
The four-year English bachelor's programmes are Environmental Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. English master's study covers metallurgy, safety, environment, communications, business, management science, international trade, public administration, sociology and MBA. Listed engineering routes generally last three years and management/humanities routes two.
International Economics and Trade 1+3
This full-time four-year route uses year one for Chinese and foundation courses, followed by three years of major study. Entry does not require an HSK 4 certificate but does require some Chinese ability and supporting evidence. Graduation requires HSK 5; bachelor's applicants still take CSCA. Tuition is RMB 23,300/year.
Medical insurance
Medical insurance costs RMB 800/year or RMB 400/semester. International students must purchase insurance valid in China to register.
Scholarships and accommodation
On-campus accommodation
A twin-room bed is RMB 1,500/month and a four-person-room bed RMB 750/month. On-campus places are limited; students without a place arrange off-campus housing. Allocation depends on the annual availability.
High-Level Graduate Scholarship funding
The award covers tuition, campus housing, a living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. Funding lasts two or three years for master's, four for doctoral study, and one year of Chinese preparation where applicable. Other Chinese government/university scholarships cannot be held concurrently, except one-off awards.
Dingxin and other scholarships
Full Dingxin awards cover tuition, campus housing, a living allowance and insurance; partial awards cover one or more of these. CSC Type A is applied for through the relevant home-country authority or Chinese mission. Beijing government and Silk Road routes have their own conditions and dates.
