Intelligent Sensing Engineering

Applicants need good health and conduct, non-Chinese citizenship, a valid ordinary foreign passport and a high-school qualification. The general age ceiling is 35 at the application deadline; scholarship age limits differ.

Chinese-taught study requires HSK 4 or above. English-taught applicants from countries where English is not an official language need IELTS ≥5.5, TOEFL ≥70 or other official evidence of English proficiency.

Every major requires CSCA mathematics. English-taught Environmental Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering use the English mathematics paper. Chinese-taught applicants also need the relevant humanities/science Chinese paper. Science and engineering require physics or chemistry, according to the major-specific subject list.

Full-time bachelor's study lasts four years. Chinese- and English-taught tuition is RMB 23,300/year. The application fee is RMB 600 and documents are submitted electronically.

The four-year English bachelor's programmes are Environmental Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. English master's study covers metallurgy, safety, environment, communications, business, management science, international trade, public administration, sociology and MBA. Listed engineering routes generally last three years and management/humanities routes two.

This full-time four-year route uses year one for Chinese and foundation courses, followed by three years of major study. Entry does not require an HSK 4 certificate but does require some Chinese ability and supporting evidence. Graduation requires HSK 5; bachelor's applicants still take CSCA. Tuition is RMB 23,300/year.

Medical insurance costs RMB 800/year or RMB 400/semester. International students must purchase insurance valid in China to register.

A twin-room bed is RMB 1,500/month and a four-person-room bed RMB 750/month. On-campus places are limited; students without a place arrange off-campus housing. Allocation depends on the annual availability.

Full Dingxin awards cover tuition, campus housing, a living allowance and insurance; partial awards cover one or more of these. CSC Type A is applied for through the relevant home-country authority or Chinese mission. Beijing government and Silk Road routes have their own conditions and dates.

Upload the application form, high-school diploma and complete transcript, valid ordinary passport, language evidence, CSCA results, physical-examination form, USTB financial-guarantee form and police clearance. Qualifications/transcripts in other languages need official translation and notarization. Each PDF/JPG must be at most 5 MB; health and police documents generally must be within six months.

Complete the university online form, upload documents, pay and submit; paper mailing is unnecessary. The 2026 guide schedules decisions for late June and electronic admission/JW202 documents for July through admission@ustb.edu.cn. Bring original qualifications for entry checks.

The campus housing desk handles police registration for residents. Off-campus residents register with the local police within 24 hours. For long-term study, use admission and JW201/JW202 documents for an X1 visa, then obtain the study residence permit within 30 days of arrival.
